Charles F. Ledford, 90, Belton, died Thursday, May 15, 2025, at Research Belton Hospital.  He was born December 31, 1934, in Washington DC.  He retired as Chief Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force, and served his country with honor, discipline, and strength for 23 years living in the United States and around the world.

When he was stationed at Richards-Gebaur Air Force Base, his wife, Bobbi, said this was where she wanted him to retire and so they settled in Belton. Ledford was both a Korean and a Vietnam veteran. He received a Bronze Star, was awarded two Meritorious Service Medals, and earned two Air Force Commendation Medals.

After his military service, he continued to utilize his skills with military contractors in the industry of communications and ILS systems while working for Wilcox, ACIS, Raytheon, and he consulted for the Coast Guard.

In retirement, he continued to lead a life rooted in faith and compassion, devoting countless hours to Coronation of Our Lady Church and uplifting his community through tireless volunteer work, including the American Legion Post No. 488. Whether lending a helping hand or offering a listening ear, he lived a life of humility, kindness, and unwavering dedication to others. His legacy of service — both in uniform and in everyday life — will forever be remembered and cherished by all who were fortunate to know him. May his gentle spirit and selfless heart continue to inspire us.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Bobbi Ledford; mother Olive Roberts and father Charles Graff. He is survived by his sons Joe Ledford (Patti) and Ray Ledford (Hiromi) and his three granddaughters, Mina Ledford, Eimi Ledford (Michael Schuler) and Olivia Klohr (Dylan).

A visitation will be held at Coronation of Our Lady Catholic Church, 13000 Bennington Avenue, Grandview, on Wednesday, May 21, from 6-7:30 p.m., with the Rosary starting at 5:30. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 22, at the church and a gravesite military burial at Belton Cemetery, following the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Honor Flight, Gary Sinise Foundation or Coronation of Our Lady food pantry.
