Helen began working for the Travelers Insurance Company out of high school as a clerk-typist. She continued with them for 40 years, retiring in 1988. In 1960, she married the love of her life, Bill Graham. For over 40 years Helen and Bill along with Helen’s sister Frances Mosby traveled the country to visit family and friends.

Helen grew up on Belton’s Main Street in the family home, living there most of her life before she moved to the long term care facility. She was on the Belton Pirates’ basketball team with her sister Frances and cousin Faye (Mosby) Wallace in the 1940’s, and followed the A’s, Royals, and Chiefs throughout her lifetime.

Well into her 80s, you would find her mowing the yard with a push mower, shoveling snow, or tending to the family garden. She also enjoyed monthly luncheons with “the girls” she grew up with, The Hi Blue Club. She was a Life Member of the Belton Historical Society, attending meetings and serving as a docent.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband Bill (2004), brother Bill Mosby (2010), and sister Frances (2021). In addition, she is survived by her three cousins, Faye Wallace of Belton and her son Greg Wallace (Sherry) of Grinnell, Iowa, Robert Powell (Pam) of Belton and their daughter Katie Powell of Los Angeles, and Don Powell (Ed) of Manhattan, NY.

Memorials in her honor may be made to Crossroads United Methodist Church, 515 Markey Pkwy, Belton, MO 64012.
