James L. Holland, born Aug. 23, 1964, to Robert and Ruby Holland of Kansas City, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2019, in his home in Belton surrounded by his family.
James graduated from Ruskin High School in 1982. He was a huge Chiefs fan and had a love for sports.
James is survived by his wife Cathy of the home; his five children, Tiffany Kellum (Steven) of Belton, James Holland (Heather) of Belton, Derek Higgins of Shawnee, Kan., Lexy McKinzie of Prairie Village, Kan., and Amber Higgins of Belton.
He leaves behind seven grandkids, Jaylen, Damien, Olivia, Mariah, Randy, Cash, Maddie; two sisters, Carol Bollinger and Roberta Holland; nieces, Michelle Bollinger and Kim Whitaker; nephews, Bill Doughty, Ronnie Bollinger, Bill Holland, Jay Bollinger, Beau Holland, and Jeff Bollinger; several great nieces, nephews, cousins and lots of friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Ruby Holland; sisters, Karen Holland and Mary Doughty; and his brother Bill Holland.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donation be made in his name to Heartland Cremation & Burial Society.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, at Brooking Cemetery, Raytown.
A Celebration of Life will be on July 6, at 1 p.m. at City of Liberty Parks & Open Space, 970 S. 291 Highway, Liberty.
