Joyce Maxine Reeves

Joyce Maxine Reeves passed away peacefully on March 1, 2022, surrounded by loved ones.

Joyce was born June 23, 1925, in Rocky, Okla. She was the youngest of three siblings all of whom preceded her in death. Joyce was married to Terrell Reeves, the love of her life for over 60 years. She and Terrell had three children, son Terrel Ray Reeves, daughter Sue Porter and daughter Beverly Bruce.

Joyce and Terrell moved their family to Grandview in 1961 to work at United Super. Several years later they became the sole owners in 1973 and ran the grocery store until 1987 when they retired. Joyce was a pillar of her community, a member of the Grandview Baptist Church, member of Beta Sigma Phi, and a member of the red hat society.


Joyce and Terrell loved to square dance. Joyce also loved to help her daughter Beverly at her business, Country Keepsakes Tea Room, until recent years. Joyce was a loving wife, mother, grandma, great grandma, and friend to all who knew her. Some of her favorite past times were listening to music, sitting on her patio, and digging in the dirt.


Joyce is survived by Terrel Ray Reeves and wife JoAnne Reeves, granddaughter Kimberly Sramek and husband Brett Sramek, granddaughter Karen Nelson, and grandson Kurt Reeves, daughter Sue Porter and her husband Rich Porter, youngest daughter Beverly Bruce and her husband Cliff Bruce, granddaughter Stacy Embree and husband Mike Embree, grandson Mark Fries and wife Victoria Fries, and granddaughter Molly Fries and husband Rafael Fernandez. Joyce has 12 great-grandchildren.


Joyce was laid to rest in a private family service on Friday, March 4.
