Michael Alan Norman

Michael Alan Norman, 67, of Belton, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 5, 2020. Services and visitation were held at Longview Funeral Home & Cemetery, Kansas City, on Thursday.

Michael was born on January 22, 1953, in Kansas City, to Robert & Janice (Coates) Norman.

After graduating from Grandview High School, he joined the service and spent four years in the Navy. After leaving the Navy one of his favorite jobs was driving for a Mattress company, afterwards he went to work for Blue Scope Construction formally known as Butler Manufacturing and was a loyal employee for 35 years. During his time at Blue Scope Construction, he fathered seven children with his ex-wife Sharolyn Soychak. They later co-grandparented 13 grandchildren. He shared his love for fishing, hunting, billiards, bowling, mountain sceneries, watching movies, being near water and finding the best deals. Later in life he met Susan Owen and they spent 15 years together. They enjoyed estate sales and little adventures.


Michael was preceded in death by his father Robert Norman, brother David Norman and his grandmother Georgia Norman.


He is survived by his mother Janice Norman-Monroe, brother Robert (Priscilla) Norman, children Stefanie (Jed) Norman, Christy (Josh) Johnson, Lindsey (Matt) Norman, Malerie (Nathan) Gibson, Haley (Travis) Walton, Greg Norman, and Zac Norman; and 13 grandchildren, Payton Benson, Jaden Norman, Kobe Gibson, Madison Johnson, Brooklynn McIntire, Gavin Benson, Trevor Walton, Danica Johnson, Skylar Gibson, Miranda Walton, Brayden McIntire, Blaykelee McIntire, and Georgia Walton.


Michael will be truly missed by all. Memorial contributions may be made to the MS Foundation in Michael’s name.
