Operation Santa planning starts

It’s time again to be planning for Christmas!


The Belton Welfare Association and the Belton Parks Department are again asking for your help by donating groceries, toys and gifts for those needing assistance living in the Belton and Ray-Pec school districts.

Those needing assistance may sign-up at the Belton Senior Center. Those wishing to make donations or wishing to adopt a family may also come by the Belton Senior Center located at 609 Minnie Ave. at the following dates and times:


Saturdays 9-noon: Oct. 8, 15, 22, 29, and Nov. 12 and 19. Tuesdays 4-7 p.m.: Oct. 11, 18, 25 and Nov. 8 and 15.


There will be NO sign-ups after Nov. 15.


Mitten trees will be available during November for your donations of hats, mittens, and gloves—sizes from birth to adult. Locations are North Cass Herald, Belton Chamber of Commerce, High Blue Wellness Center, Mary’s Mountain Cookies, Central Bank, Belton Senior Center and R-G Credit Union.


Those wishing to adopt families come to the Senior Center at sign-up dates or call Willene at 816-392-4778. Monetary donations may be sent to Belton Welfare in care of Karen Calvert at 908 Applewood, Belton, Mo. 64012.
