Ralph S. Thomas

Ralph S. Thomas, 57, husband of Dawn M. Thomas of Belton, passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2022, at Belton Regional Medical Center. Born Nov. 17, 1964, in Washington D.C., he was the son of the late Tania Maria Cavalcanti da Silva Santos and Wallace Keller Thomas Jr.

Ralph graduated from Einstein High School and Montgomery College in Maryland. He was a skilled audio engineer at local Christian radio station WCTN, and enjoyed touring with the band Malachi. After moving to Kansas City, he worked as a software application administrator and contributed to the development of a patent filed by Sprint. In his free time, he was an accomplished actor and performer in his community theater, as well as an avid lover of tabletop and online games.


Ralph is survived by his wife, Dawn Thomas of Belton; his daughters, Catherine Cox and husband, Brett, of Belton, and Maeghan Thomas and partner, Anna Zuercher, of Denver; his sons, Zach Thomas and wife, Jessica, of Kansas City, and Robert Thomas of Belton; his sister Monica Zito Porto and husband Paulo of Rio de Janeiro, and his brother, William Thomas of Kensington, Md. He is also survived by his nephew, Bernardo Zito Porto and wife, Alexandria, of Kansas City, and his nieces Fernanda Zito Porto and Priscilla Porto of Rio de Janeiro.


In addition to his parents, Ralph was predeceased by his daughter, Olivia Thomas, and brother, Wallace “Butch” Keller Thomas III.


Visitation will be held Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m., with a celebration of life service to follow from 11 a.m. to noon, at McGilley and George funeral home at 611 Chestnut St, Belton.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Ralph S. Thomas Scholarship Fund; a fund set up to support high school theater students. Payable to The Main Street Theater: 510 Main Street, Belton MO 64012.
