A driver has been taken into custody after crashing his car into a home in the 500 block of Colbern, injuring a 8-year-old child inside the residence, then fleeing on foot.
The incident occurred around 8:15 p.m. Thursday.
Officers found the driver of the car had fled, and Belton EMS transported the child, who had been injured inside the home, to a local hospital.
The suspected driver was located and arrested by Belton Police a short distance away from the scene.
The crash is being investigated by the Belton Police Traffic Division. Anyone that witnessed the crash or who has pertinent information is asked to call the Belton Police Traffic Division at 816-331-5522.
NOTE: BPD had initially identified the child as a 4-year-old.
