RAYMORE - A 41-year-old Raymore man charged in the stabbing death of another Raymore man, 44-year-old Brian Kile, during a Friday afternoon fight at a residence in the 1000 block of North Jerry in the Mullendyke neighborhood northeast of town.
John W. Adams is being held in the Cass County Jail on one count of first-degree murder, with a $250,000 cash only bond.
According to the Cass County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to the residence after receiving a 911 call reporting a disturbance in the progress ata about 4:30 p.m. The caller told dispatch that her estranged husband, Adams, had entered the residence by breaking a window and was fighting with Kile. She said that during the fight, Kile had been stabbed with a knife and that the suspect had fled the scene in a vehicle.
Kile died at the scene before he could be transported for treatment, according to the Sheriff's Office.
At approximately 6:40 p.m., members of the Cass County Sheriff's Criminal Apprehension Unit located the suspect at a residence in the 7000 block of East 160th Street, where he was arrested without incident.
Adams had just eight days earlier pleaded guilty to one felony count of domestic assault in connection with a July incident. He was sentenced to seven years in prison, but Associate Circuit Judge Mike Rumley had suspended execution of the sentence and ordered him placed on five years of probation instead, with supervision as a domestic violence offender ordered. The sentence was the result of a plea agreement reached with Cass County Prosecuting Attorney Ben Butler.
Adams still faced unresolved misdemeanor assault charges from earlier in July, and also from April, which hearings on both cases set for next month. He had also
pleaded guilty and was sentenced to probation for a 2017 misdemeanor assault charge.
