Sean Martin named Head Ray-Pec Football Coach

PECULIAR – The Raymore-Peculiar School Board on Thursday approved hiring Sean Martin as the next Ray-Pec Head Football Coach.


Martin has been a physical education teacher and coach at Ray-Pec High School since 1997 and has chaired the Physical Education Department since 2004. He has been the varsity football defensive coordinator and assistant coach in charge of linebackers since 2000. From 1997 to 1999, he was the assistant coach in charge of offensive and defensive lines. From 1997 to 2010 he was the varsity assistant wrestling coach.


From 1993 to 1997, Martin taught physical education and science courses at Harrisonville High School, where he coached wrestling and football. Before going to Harrisonville, he taught P.E. at Ray-Pec Middle School while serving as an assistant football and wrestling coach at the high school. Earlier, he was a graduate assistant football coach at Northwest Missouri State University and a student assistant football coach at Baker University.


Martin, a Ray-Pec High School graduate, will replace Coach Tom Kruse, who is retiring at the end of this school year. Kruse also serves as the District’s Activities Director. Kirk Hipple has been hired as the new Ray-Pec Activities Director.


While attending Ray-Pec High School, he was a two-year starter as offensive guard and defensive end. He went on to play defensive tackle at Baker University.


Martin earned his bachelor’s degree in education from Baker University. He earned two master’s degrees in education - one from Northwest Missouri State University and one from Baker University.
